About to go wheels up and head south to the Dark Continent. Had a few minutes to ponder the upcoming trip and figured I would write up some expectations as well as some things I am truly excited about.
First to the good part; the excitement!!!
I am excited to chase giant Blue Marlin in a completely untapped fishery that is Bazaruto Island, Mozambique. I am excited to run to far offshore spots that are rumored to be a Marlin heaven by some local long liners, an area that has been fished by a Marlin vessel just once in the last 20 years and it produced an 890 pound Blue Marlin and lost a much much larger (grander) Blue in the same two day trip.
I am excited to see my closest friends again in a place I call my second home. I have known from the moment I touched Mozambican soil I was in a place I would love and cherish forever.
I am excited about the trajectory of MSF. In the past year we have met such amazing and inspirational people who share the same love and respect for these amazing sea beasts. A huge thanks to everyone so far that has come on board to help us achieve so much in such a fast and foreign land!!!
I am excited to try out some new equipment from Pulsator, Aloha Lures and GZ Tackle (huge thanks to Captain Chris Donato for all the support and tips on upgrading our much needed equipment in Moz).
On to the expectations… It is my goal to fish 25 days this Spring Blue Marlin season. We have a solid slot of clients this spring but we added in some extra time to scout some uncharted territories up in the northern channel and some far points towards Madagascar. We are going all out to find the next World Record Marlin!!! After last years success on a very slow (in our opinion) year fishing where we caught .65 Marlin a day, I would love to keep on the same success level. Hopeful goal is 15-20 Marlin caught in 25 days fishing.
Either way, it’s a new Adventure and a time to cherish. It’s a time to be out on the ocean that we all so dearly love and respect.
It’s an amazing time to be alive my friends, chase dreams and live life to the maximum because you never know when it’s your time to go. Hammer down and die with no regrets!!!
More to come as my journey across the Atlantic is just about to begin.
Tight lines my friends!!!
